Sandifer Administration Building, Brunswick County Government Complex, Bolivia, N. C. The purpose of the meeting is to review the proposed changes to the Unified Development Ordinance.

Wilmington- Starting Monday, Oct. 27, at 12:01 a.m., the N.C. Department of Transportation will close a section of N.C. 179, between Village Point Road and Hale Swamp Road south of Shallotte in Brunswick County. The road will reopen at 11:59 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 29, weather permitting.

North Carolina sets up hotline to address Ebola concerns

The state of North Carolina has set up a hotline through its poison control service to address questions and concerns about Ebola. Residents can dial the hotline at 1-800-222-1222; select option 6. Residents will then be able to listen to recorded information about Ebola or speak to a specialist about any specific concerns.

Boil water notice lifted for Brick Landing Road area

A boil water notice for Maple Hill Road, the Pine Lake subdivision and a stretch of Brick Landing Road north of Hale Swamp Road has been lifted. Residents no longer need to boil water for consumption.

Time to Pay More Attention to Deer on the Roadways

2013 Marked 4th-straight year of more than 20,000 animal-related crashes in N.C.

RALEIGH — The arrival of the fall season not only means dropping temperatures and leaves, but also an increase in the chances of a collision with a deer across North Carolina. Between 2011 and 2013, nearly half of the more than 61,000 animal-related crashes took place in October through December.  About 90 percent of those involved deer.
