Campaign Finance
The law states that within ten days of any of the following events a candidate must open a political committee and appoint a treasurer:
- Receiving or spending any money in support of their candidacy,
- Filing a notice of candidacy, or
- Making a public announcement of a definite intent to run for public office in a particular election.

Campaign Finance Paperwork
When opening a political committee, the first question a candidate should consider is whether they intend to receive or spend more than $1,000 or less than $1,000. (This reflects a change in law that became effective December 1, 2009, reducing the reporting threshold from $3,000 to $1,000.) Once this determination has been made, candidates may print and complete the appropriate forms below. The completed forms should be mailed or delivered to the Board of Elections office.
