The 2009 candidate filing is from 8:30 a.m., Monday, July 6 (due to the July 4th holiday) through 12 p.m., Friday, July 17th. Filing forms, along with the proper filing fee, must be received in the Brunswick County Board of Elections office before the close of filing on July 17that 12 p.m. This includes mailed notices of candidacy. Please do not send notices of candidacy to any town halls.

Filing fees for the Town of Oak Island are $25.00. Filing fees for the Town of Belville are $15.00. Filing fees for all other Brunswick County municipalities, the two sanitary districts, and the Dosher trustee board are $5.00.

In addition to the notice of candidacy, all candidates must open a political committee, i.e. complete campaign finance paperwork and appoint a treasurer. This paperwork and treasurer is required even if a candidate does not intend to spend and/or receive any money.

Once deciding in which category their campaign will operate, candidates may print and complete the forms attached below and bring these forms with them at filing. A sample of each option is also provided to assist candidates in completing the forms.”
