Public Notice
Due to the current unprecedented demand for water, Brunswick County Public Utilities has declared a STAGE 1 WATER CONSERVATION ALERT for all Brunswick County Public Utilities Customers. Since the Memorial Day holiday weekend, an average of 18 million gallons of water per day has been consumed by Brunswick County's retail customers, industrial customers, and the customers of municipalities served by the County through wholesale water agreements. The peak usage during this period was 21.86 mgd, which represents approximately 70% of the County's total water treatment capacity.
Most of the increase in water consumption during the recent months is attributable to an increase in demand for irrigation due to the drought conditions being experienced throughout the Southeast. During a STAGE 1 WATER CONSERVATION ALERT, customers are asked to voluntarily conserve water.
