 Minimum Housing

Certified code enforcement officers investigate complaints to ensure dwellings within the county’s jurisdiction are fit for human habitation concerning safety and health elements with reduced fire hazard potential. All dwellings must be in minimum compliance concerning structural, basic plumbing, electrical, lighting, ventilation, and the minimum standards for control of insects, rodents and infestation. Owners desiring to demolish old structures that contain asbestos-containing materials (ACMs), such as asbestos siding, are encouraged to contact Chief Building Official, Delaney Aycock at 910-253-2050, for Brunswick County’s asbestos-removal guidelines. Additionally, he will try to answer any questions you may have concerning the proper asbestos removal-disposal process.
