The Brunswick County Pediatric Primary Care program provides
diagnosis and treatment services by a family nurse practitioner to
those children who are eligible for services. The clinic accepts the
general public; referrals from the public health nurse screening
programs, the Child Services Coordination program, as well as from
other agencies such as public schools, day care centers, social
services, etc.
Who Program Serves
The Pediatric Primary Care program is available to those persons who meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Male or Female
- Birth to 21 years of age
- ___% (max.) federal poverty level
- Brunswick County resident
Services Provided
During the exam, a Family Nurse Practitioner:
- Performs well-child exams.
- Diagnoses and treats common childhood illnesses under standing orders.
- Orders diagnostic tests, as needed.
- Provides anticipatory guidance on growth and development issues, vaccines, and on diagnosed illnesses.
Problems beyond the scope of practice for the Nurse Practitioner
and/or problems for which a doctor's consultation is required are
referred to the Pediatric Clinic. Problems of an urgent or more acute
nature, requiring more immediate intervention by a doctor, are referred
to a doctor's office or to the appropriate agency after a telephone
consultation with the supervising doctor. The Pediatric Primary Care
Clinic does not accept emergency problems or illnesses. These cases are referred to the nearest Emergency Room facility.

Appointment: required; walk-ins accepted as schedule permits.

Fees based on patient's ability to pay (sliding scale).
Also accepted are Medicaid, North Carolina Health Choice, and private insurance.
