BRUNSWICK COUNTY YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUE

The basketball league is for first through sixth grades. There will be three areas for youth basketball. The North League will cover the Leland area; the South League will cover the Town Creek, Southport and Oak Island areas and the West League will cover the Shallotte area. The deadline for registration is November 14th and there will be skills analysis held at each middle school on November 18th & 20th for team assignments. (Please see attached flyers & registration) The cost is $30.00 and you may register at the Parks & Recreation in Bolivia or call 253-2670 for more information. Practices will begin in December and games will run January through March on Saturdays.

Brunswick County Parks & Recreation offers Baseball, T-Ball and Softball coaching certification classes each spring. The cost for the class is $20.00. Coaches that become certified are insured for one year under a personal excess liability policy worth $1,000,000 while performing duties associated with coaching the sport in which he/she is trained. You also receive a membership card and four issues of Coaching Youth Sports Journal. Coaches may maintain their membership each year by paying a $20.00 renewal fee. After the initial year, coaches are entitled to $2,000.000 excess liability coverage as well as $250,000 excess accident / medical insurance. You also receive a new membership card and your subscription to Coaching Youth Sports Journal is renewed.

Dixie Boys Baseball
This is for 13 and 14 year olds. League follows Dixie Boys Baseball rules and regulations. Usually an eight-team league with teams in the following locations: Lockwood Folly, Shallotte (2 teams), Southport (2 teams), Waccamaw, Town Creek and Leland. Play an end of season county tournament and have a selected 13 year old all star team and a 14 year old all star team. Season begins in early spring with the registration fee being $30.00.

Dixie Belles Girl's Softball
This league is for 13-15 year old girls. League follows Dixie Softball rules and regulations. Teams are located in: Shallotte, Waccamaw, Lockwood Folly, Southport and Leland. Registration fee is $30.00. All - Star teams chosen at end of season to play in Tournaments. You may register at Brunswick County Parks and Recreation.

Summer Youth Tennis
The Brunswick County Tennis Association in coordination with Brunswick County Parks and Recreation and the North Carolina Tennis Association will offer summer tennis lessons. 2008 North Carolina Junior Dixie Boys and Dixie Boys State Tournament
The Brunswick County Parks and Recreation will host the 2008 Junior Dixie Boys and Dixie Boys Baseball State Tournaments; July 18-25, 2008. The tournaments will be held at Smithville Park in Southport. The Parks and Recreation is hosting in consecutive years. 2007 State Tournaments were held in Southport with twenty-two teams participating. Leagues in North Carolina have made it clear that they enjoy coming to Brunswick County to play the State Tournaments because of the location, facilities and hospitality. Youth Football Skill Development Camp

Description:	North Brunswick High School and Brunswick County Parks and Recreation is offering a Youth Football Skill Development Camp. Campers will improve their fundamental football skills and also participate in a Punt/Pass/Kick Competition. The camp has an emphasis on learning the basics, meeting people, improving your game, and having fun!! American Youth Football (12 & Under) (9 & Under)
The Brunswick County Parks and Recreation will be offering a 12 & under age division as well as a 9 & under age division. Players in the 12 & under must be 10 on or before July 31, 2008. Players in the 9 & under must be 7 on or before July 31, 2008. The 12 & Under weight limit will be 150 lbs. and the 9 & Under weight limit will be 119lbs. Players will be allowed to gain one pound per week after Labor Day. There are six teams in the 12 & Under Division - Leland, Southport, Shallotte (2), Lockwood Folly and Town Creek. There is 5 teams in the 9 & under division. (Town Creek, Southport, Lockwood Folly, and Shallotte (2). Practices will begin in August with games beginning in September and lasting until the first weekend in December. Games are played on Saturday’s at North Brunswick High School, South Brunswick High School, and West Brunswick High School. Registration fee is $40.00 per participant.

Fall Baseball
BRUNSWICK COUNTY PARKS & RECREATION WILL BE OFFERING FALL BASEBALL FOR RISING 13-14 YEAR OLDS THAT WILL BE PLAYING DIXIE BOYS BASEBALL IN THE SPRING. REGISTRATION WILL BE FROM AUGUST 26TH – SEPTEMBER 12TH. THE COST IS $25.00 WITH THE REGISTRATION AND A COPY OF THE PARTICIPANTS BIRTH CERTIFICATE. PRACTICES WILL BE A COUPLE OF NIGHTS A WEEK AND GAMES WILL BE PLAYED ON SATURDAYS; SEPTEMBER 27TH – NOVEMBER 1ST.

Middle School Tennis League
Join us for the inaugural season of the Brunswick County Middle School Tennis League!! The league is for middle school students ages 11-14. The league starts September 9, 2008 and runs to October 23, 2008. Participants will have one match and one practice per week. The league plays Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM at Shallotte Park and Smithville Park. Please see the below flyer and registration form for more details.
