Brunswick County is a dynamic County comprised of a collection of
both rural and coastal communities with major activity centers
scattered throughout its 856 square miles. The Planning Department is
charged with implementing and maintaining various regulatory ordinances
such as zoning and subdivision as well as providing data, review,
research, and information related to land development and growth within
the unincorporated areas of Brunswick County.
The Planning Department also provides assistance with the
development of long-range policies that help guide the County's
decisions concerning land development and growth. The Planning
Department provides information and assists the Board of Commissioners,
Planning Board, and Board of Adjustment in land development decisions
by giving recommendations and statistical data based on land-use
policies and ordinance provisions.

Permit Extension Act of 2009

Low Impact Development
Brunswick County staff worked with the City of Wilmington, New Hanover County, and the North Carolina Coastal Federation to develop a Low Impact Development (LID) Guidance Manual to encourage the use of innovative stormwater management techniques. The Resolution and LID Guidance Manual were approved by the Brunswick County Planning Board and the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners on November 3, 2008.

Proposed Outdoor RV Resort Text Amendment
The Brunswick County Planning Board will hold a public hearing on May 10, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. in the Commissioners Chambers of the David R. Sandifer Administration Building, 30 Government Center Drive at the Brunswick County Government Center concerning the proposed Outdoor RV Resort text amendment to the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO).
