Youth Employment Certificates (work permits) program is for youth ages 14 to 18 years old who wish to obtain a work permit.
The following are the steps necessary to obtain a youth employment certificate:
- The youth must complete a form at one of several locations:
Brunswick County Social Services office, North Brunswick High, South
Brunswick High, or BCC.
- The employer must complete the appropriate section.
- The parent or guardian must sign the form.
- A staff member at one of the issuing agencies must witness the youth's signature.
- The youth must provide proof of age by means of 1 of the following:
- a birth certificate; or
- evidence from the bureau of vital statistics in the state in which the youth was born; or
- any state driver's license or learner's permit; or
- insurance records; or
- Bible records; or
- other
documentary evidence as the county director of social services shall
accept in consultation with the Wage And Hour Division.
