Youth Employment Certificates (work permits) program is for youth ages 14 to 18 years old who wish to obtain a work permit.

The following are the steps necessary to obtain a youth employment certificate:

1. The youth must complete a form at one of several locations: Brunswick County Social Services office, North Brunswick High, South Brunswick High, or BCC.
2. The employer must complete the appropriate section.
3. The parent or guardian must sign the form.
4. A staff member at one of the issuing agencies must witness the youth's signature.
5. The youth must provide proof of age by means of 1 of the following:
   • a birth certificate; or
   • evidence from the bureau of vital statistics in the state in which the youth was born; or
   • any state driver's license or learner's permit; or
   • insurance records; or
   • Bible records; or
   • other documentary evidence as the county director of social services shall accept in consultation with the Wage And Hour Division.
