 C&D Landfill and Transfer Station

Brunswick County has a Construction & Demolition Landfill, and a solid waste transfer station. By law, construction and demolition material -- such as those listed below -- can be buried in the Brunswick County C&D Landfill, but all other solid waste must be deposited into a "sanitary landfill". At the present time, Brunswick County does not have a "sanitary landfill", so solid waste is collected and then transported to such a regulated facility. Before that solid waste is exported, materials that can be recycled -- such as white goods and tires -- are removed. A "tipping fee" is charged to dispose of items at the C&D Landfill or the solid waste transfer station.

You can learn more about landfills at the EPA's website.
