Brunswick County 1,4-Dioxane Test Results

Brunswick County has received additional results of testing for 1,4-Dioxane in the water supply. Samples taken on Feb. 22 revealed levels of 2.7 micrograms per liter (ug/L) in the Northwest Water Treatment Plant’s raw water source, and 2.5 micrograms per liter in the finished water source.

The EPA has established a noncancer adverse health effect advisory of 200 parts per billion (also referred to as micrograms per liter), which is calculated for consistent daily exposure over a lifetime to the most vulnerable populations, like infants.
