Brunswick County GenX Test Results

Bolivia, NC – Brunswick County has received additional results of testing for GenX in the water supply. Samples taken on Jan. 18, 2018 revealed levels of 38 parts per trillion in the Northwest Water Treatment Plant’s raw water source, and 36.9 parts per trillion in the finished water source. Samples taken on Jan. 25, 2018 revealed levels of 22.3 parts per trillion in the Northwest Water Treatment Plant’s raw water source, and 26.5 parts per trillion in the finished water source. Samples taken on Feb. 1, 2018 revealed levels of 14.1 parts per trillion in the Northwest Water Treatment Plant’s raw water source, and 13.6 parts per trillion in the finished water source. Samples taken on Feb. 8, 2018 revealed levels of 11 parts per trillion in the Northwest Water Treatment Plant’s raw water source, and 7.48 parts per trillion in the finished water source.

NC Health and Human Services has established the health goal for exposure to GenX in drinking water at 140 nanograms per liter (also referred to as parts per trillion).
