[ARCHIVED] Brunswick County seeking applicants for Local Emergency Planning Committee

MEDIA RELEASE

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Brunswick County residents are encouraged to apply to serve on the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).

The LEPC currently has an opening for a representative from the general community. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be a resident of Brunswick County.

The committee meets quarterly to carry out the duties prescribed in the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA). Duties include maintaining the county-wide emergency response plan, receiving reports from facilities in the area that handle hazardous chemicals, identifying hazards in the community, and providing chemical-related information to community members.

Interested residents should apply by 5 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024. The Board of Commissioners will consider eligible applicants for appointment during the regular meeting on Monday, August 19.
