Private well users in the area can get their samples analyzed for bacteria and metals for free this month thanks to a program via Northeastern University in cooperation with Brunswick County Health Services.
While the event is in Brunswick County, you do not need to live there to participate.
Test kits will be distributed Aug. 12-16 at Brunswick County Health Services (Building A) at the Brunswick County Government Center in Bolivia (25 Court House Drive NE Bolivia, NC 28422).
Samples must be collected and returned on the morning of Aug. 20 from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Brunswick County Health Services (Building A).
There are a limited number of kits, so they will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Detailed sampling instructions will be provided, and water quality results will be emailed and mailed to residents. Residents will also receive a $10 gift card for their participation.
If you have questions, you can reach out to Kyla Drewry at drewry.k@northeastern.edu or 203-725-4012.
