The Brunswick County Board of Elections has voted to relocate five election day polling places for the upcoming general election. This decision was made at the Board meeting held on July 16, 2024, after careful analysis and consideration of voter turnout, wait times, and polling place capacity.
The following precincts and polling locations will be affected:
| Precinct | Previous Polling Place | New Polling Place |
|---|
Shallotte (CB02) | The Brunswick Center at Shallotte | West Brunswick High School 550 Whiteville Rd NW, Shallotte, 28470 |
Secession 2 (CB04) | Holden Beach EOC Building | Sabbath Home Baptist Church 990 Sabbath Home Rd SW, Supply, 28462 |
Hood Creek (NB01) | Sandy Creek Town Hall | Bethel AME Church 4924 Blue Banks Loop Rd NE, Leland, 28451 |
Boiling Spring Lakes (SB02) | Boiling Spring Lakes Community Center | South Brunswick High School 280 Cougar Rd, Southport, 28461 |
Grissettown (WB06) | Ocean Isle Beach Town Hall | Seaside United Methodist Church 1300 Seaside Rd SW, Sunset Beach, 28468 |
"These relocations were made to ensure that all voters have a safe and efficient voting experience," said Sara LaVere, Director of the Brunswick County Board of Elections. "To reduce possible wait times, we needed the ability to increase the amount of equipment and staffing that some of our polling places were allocated."
The board, with the help of staff, utilized data from past presidential elections to estimate voter turnout in each precinct. This data was then analyzed in a line optimization tool to assess and minimize wait times on election day.
All voters in the affected precincts will be mailed a card notifying them of the polling place relocation. Additionally, voters can check their voter registration record using the Voter Lookup Tool to confirm they are registered to vote at their current address, see their election day polling place, and access a copy of their sample ballot once they are available.
We urge voters to take note of these changes and plan accordingly for election day. For more information, contact us by phone at 910-253-2620 or email at elections@brunswickcountync.gov.
