Editor's Note: NCDOT has postponed this closure, set to begin Sept. 18, because of PTC #8 storm-related impacts to roads in the Southport area. NCDOT will announce the new closure date for N.C. 133 later. Below is an edited version of a Sept. 12 release for the upcoming closure.

SOUTHPORT, N.C. - As part of the N.C. 211 widening project underway in Brunswick County, a portion of N.C. 133 (Long Beach Road) will need to close for one year.

The road near Southport-Supply Road will need to be closed while an N.C. Department of Transportation contractor makes several improvements, including build a bridge over N.C. 211. When the closure does occur, drivers needing to get around the construction will be detoured onto Old Long Beach Road.

To learn more about the work to widen more than seven miles of N.C. 211, visit this NCDOT webpage.
