The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and public safety personnel are working to deliver food, water, and supplies to drivers who remain on roads closed or impassable due to severe flooding or damaged roads. Drivers are asked to remain calm as they await assistance and follow law enforcement’s directions and safety precautions.
Significant flooding continues to impact several highways and major thoroughfares throughout the county. Several major highways and roads remain impassable due to flood waters caused from PTC #8.
Community members should wait for road conditions to improve before driving and heed any curfews or traffic directions from law enforcement. The unincorporated areas of Brunswick County are currently under a curfew until Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 6 a.m.
You can check for active road incidents on the North Carolina Department of Transportation's DriveNC.gov map (using the Potential Tropical Cyclone filter), the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office’s social media pages and mobile app, and local municipal pages.
Brunswick County will share any updates on PTC #8 and its operations at brunswickcountync.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=253.
