MEDIA RELEASE
BOLIVIA, N.C. – Brunswick County is experiencing a record year for elections, with nearly 17,000 voters already casting their ballots during early voting for the 2024 General Election. When adding absentee by mail ballots, nearly 14% of registered voters have already participated in this year's election. You can see turnout statistics on our Tableau page.
Voters in Brunswick County can still vote one of three ways—but deadlines are approaching for some of these options.
With increased numbers of voters heading to the polls, it’s important to plan ahead before you go. Here are a few tips for those who plan to vote during early voting (now through Saturday, Nov. 2) or on Election Day (Tuesday, Nov. 5):
- Check our wait time tracker to see current wait times before heading out to vote at an early voting location
- Line lengths fluctuate throughout the day, so wear comfortable shoes and bring a chair if you have difficulty standing for long periods of time
- Stay hydrated and well—bring a water bottle and snacks in case the wait is a little longer than expected
- Looks like rain or sun? Consider bringing an umbrella or a handheld fan to stay cool or dry
Please note: All voters will be asked to provide an acceptable form of photo ID when voting, whether voting early or on Election Day. Make sure to have your ID ready to avoid any delays. More details about acceptable forms of ID can be found on our website.
Curbside voting is available at all early voting and election day polling places, but is only eligible for voters who, because of age or disability, cannot enter the polling place. Each polling place will have a marked area for curbside voting.
Here is a quick overview of how you can vote and what steps you need to take to vote using one of these options. If you have questions about any of these options, contact the Board of Elections at 910.253.2620 or email elections@brunswickcountync.gov

Early Voting
- When can I vote early?: Thursday, Oct. 17 through Saturday, Nov. 2
Early voting allows any registered voter to cast a ballot in person on select days prior to Election Day. Unlike on Election Day, when registered voters can only vote at their specific precinct, early voting allows registered voters to vote at any early voting site in the county. Early sites will have all the ballot styles for a given election at each site.
There are six early voting locations open in Brunswick County. See the full list of locations and their schedules on our website.
