SOUTHPORT, N.C. – Repairs to a storm-damaged road in Brunswick County will begin next week.
East Moore Street was damaged in September by a severe storm and has been closed ever since.
Beginning Dec. 9, N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will replace the existing washed-out culvert with a single-span bridge. The $2.4 million project will also include new guardrail and waterline.
Crews are scheduled to finish the project in spring 2025, when the road will reopen.
Drivers should continue to navigate the closure as they have been and be cautious near the work zone.
