[ARCHIVED] Brunswick County Board of Commissioners holds regular meeting Monday, Feb. 17

BOLIVIA, N.C. – The Brunswick County Board of Commissioners will hold a regular meeting at 6 p.m. this Monday, Feb. 17, 2025. The public is welcome to attend in person or watch live online via Zoom (details below).

The commissioners’ chambers are on the first floor of the David R. Sandifer Administration Building at 30 Government Center Drive in Bolivia (28422).

Agenda Preview

Below are a few selected items from the agenda that the Board of Commissioners will discuss and take possible action on during the regular meeting.

VII. Public Hearings

  1. Planning – UDO Text Amendment – Accessory Dwellings: Request the Board, after a public hearing, consider amending the Brunswick County Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) to remove the minimum lot area requirement for accessory dwelling units (ADU).

VIII. Administrative Report 

  1. Utilities – H2GO Request for Infrastructure Conveyance: Request the Board consider H2GO's request for the County to convey a 16-inch HDPE water line that crosses under US-17 and provide direction to staff. 
     
  2. Utilities – Succession Planning and Meter-Only Installation Backlog Reduction: Request the Board approve additional staff, materials, and equipment to facilitate reduction of meter-only installation backlog and to provide a succession plan for key water treatment staff.

IX. Board Appointments

  1. Clerk to the Board – Shallotte Planning Board ETJ Position: At the request of the Town of Shallotte Board of Alderman, consider approval of the Shallotte ETJ appointment of Amanda Dunn to the Planning Board.
     
  2. Clerk to the Board – Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC): Request the Board consider of one of the applicants for the vacated seat assigned to the Board for appointment.

Public Comment and Hearings

Most regular meetings include a time for public comment before the commissioners at the beginning of the meeting. Some meetings also have public hearings for specific issues. The public hearings are similar to a public comment period but pertain to one topic.

Individuals wishing to speak during a public hearing should sign up before the meeting starts on the form at the door dedicated to public hearings. This form is separate from the form used to sign up for public comments at the beginning of the meeting.

Speakers wishing to distribute any related documents, printed comments or materials to the commissioners should deliver at least eight copies to the county clerk at least fifteen minutes before the meeting starts.
