Addressing Questions About Water Odor

Utilities Public Notices Posted on March 10, 2025

Posted 3.10.2025

Brunswick County Public Utilities has received questions from some customers related to the odor of their water. Brunswick County is currently working to flush parts of the system to help dissipate any remaining odor issues. Customers may notice some odor, taste, or discoloration while the flushing takes place. Our team appreciates our customers’ patience as we address this matter.

Water samples were recently collected and tested as a precaution, and all samples meet state and federal safe drinking water parameters for consumption and use.

For customers who may still be experiencing temporary odor issues, it is recommended to let water sit in a pitcher or to periodically run faucets until the odor dissipates.

Brunswick County is dedicated to providing our customers with robust, reliable, and high-quality water service. In the event there are additional updates concerning this matter, Brunswick County will share them on its Advisories & News webpage at brunswickcountync.gov/utilities.

Customers with remaining questions may contact Public Utilities at 910-253-2657 (Option 1).
