[ARCHIVED] Brunswick County reminds community to stay prepared during peak Atlantic hurricane season

PUBLIC NOTICE

BOLIVIA, N.C. – As the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season enters its historical peak, atmospheric and oceanic conditions continue to favor an above-normal season according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Brunswick County urges all community members to stay vigilant in their preparedness efforts for any hazards and impacts the hurricane season may bring.

The official hurricane season for the Atlantic basin is from June 1 to November 30, with most activity occurring between mid-August and mid-October.

So far, the season has produced five named tropical storms and one hurricane. Community members are reminded to look beyond hurricane category levels and consider other factors like storm surge, rainfall, and risks for flooding and tornadoes when planning for how to respond to a storm.
