[ARCHIVED] Final day to pay Brunswick County property taxes without interest is Jan. 5, 2026

PUBLIC NOTICE

BOLIVIA, N.C. – The Brunswick County Tax Office wants to remind taxpayers that Brunswick County real estate and personal property tax payments must be paid or postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service on or before Jan. 5, 2026, to avoid delinquency and interest charges. Tax bills were mailed in July to the owner of record as of Jan. 1, 2025.

New property owners are encouraged to check Brunswick County’s Payment of Taxes webpage (using the parcel number or Jan. 1 owner’s name) or call 910.253.2729 to ensure payment has been made. If payment is due, please remit payment using one of the options listed below. If mailing the payment, taxpayers should ensure that envelopes are hand stamped at the post office counter with a Jan. 5, 2026, or earlier postmark to avoid interest charges.

Property owners whose payments are received or postmarked after Jan. 5, 2026, will be charged two percent interest for the month of January, and an additional three-quarters of one percent every month thereafter until paid.

There are four ways to pay property tax bills:

  • Online at BrunswickCountyNC.gov/PayTax for credit card, debit card, or eCheck payment.*
  • By phone at 910.460.9915 for a card or eCheck/ACH payment.*
  • By mail:
    • Without a payment stub: Include the tax account or bill number on the check/money order. Make check payable to the Brunswick County Tax Collector and mail to P.O. Box 29, Bolivia, NC 28422.
    • With a payment stub using the return envelope that accompanied the tax bill, mail to P.O. Box 580335, Charlotte, NC 28258-335.
  • In person or via drop box at the David R. Sandifer Administration Building, 30 Government Center Drive in Bolivia, Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., (excluding observed holidays). All payments made via drop box are posted the business day after they are dropped, therefore they must be dropped by Jan. 4, 2026, to avoid interest.

*All card payments have a service fee of 2.65% or a minimum of $2.00. There is no service fee for eCheck/ACH payments.

According to North Carolina General Statute 105-348, failure to receive a tax bill does not invalidate the tax or interest charges. More information is available online at BrunswickCountyNC.gov/tax.
