[ARCHIVED] Brunswick County Libraries, Parks, Landfill & Convenience Centers closed this weekend

PUBLIC NOTICE

BOLIVIA, N.C. – The following Brunswick County facilities and services will be closed this Saturday, Jan. 31 and Sunday, Feb. 1 due to inclement winter weather related to Winter Storm Gianna:

Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026

  • Library Branches: Closed
  • County Parks: Closed. All county programs, rentals, and leagues are canceled until further notice.
  • Landfill & Convenience Centers: Closed

Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026

Library Branches, Landfill, and Convenience Centers are not open on Sundays

  • County Parks: Closed. All county programs, rentals, and leagues are canceled until further notice.

Brunswick County will continue to monitor the inclement weather over the weekend and will provide an update on our planned operations for Monday, Feb. 2 by around noon on Sunday.

Essential staff responding to the winter storm will still work as scheduled this weekend to help monitor and respond to community needs and public safety throughout the duration of the storm.

Additional Information

  • The Brunswick County Courthouse has already announced that both Superior and District courts are canceled on Monday, Feb. 2. The Judge Ola M. Lewis Brunswick County Courthouse location will also be closed on Monday. All questions concerning court dates must be directed to the Courthouse. Click here to visit their website.
     
  • The Brunswick County Library will not charge any overdue fines when the Library is closed for weather events. Please keep your library materials safe at home until the library branches have reopened.
     
  • GFL Environmental will assess road conditions and other factors next week to determine whether their crews can safely collect curbside trash and recycling carts as normally scheduled.
