MEDIA RELEASE

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Brunswick County Government will remain closed to the public Tuesday, Sept. 17 due to severe weather impacts from Potential Tropical Cyclone #8. All Brunswick County Government offices, libraries, parks, and other facilities will reopen on their regular schedules Wednesday, Sept. 18 unless additional closures or schedule changes become necessary. 

Essential public safety staff will continue to monitor and respond to community needs and safety through the duration and aftermath of the storm. A curfew is currently in effect until Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 6 a.m. for the unincorporated areas of the county.

GFL Environmental still plans to collect curbside trash and recycling carts for Tuesday customers, but this plan may change based on road conditions remaining on Tuesday. Monday curbside trash and recycling customers will now receive pick-up Saturday, Sept. 21. The Brunswick County Landfill’s operations will be assessed later based on conditions. Those with questions about their cart collections should contact GFL Environmental at 910.253.4177.

Brunswick County Government closed Monday, Sept. 16, Board of Commissioners Meeting Canceled

MEDIA RELEASE

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Brunswick County Government will be closed effective immediately Monday, Sept. 16 due to severe weather impacts from Potential Tropical Cyclone #8. All Brunswick County Government offices, libraries, parks, and other facilities will reopen on their regular schedules Tuesday, Sept. 17 unless additional closures or schedule changes become necessary. 

The Sept. 16 Brunswick County Board of Commissioners meeting is also canceled and will tentatively be rescheduled for a later date to be determined. 

The Brunswick County Landfill and Convenience Centers are also closed Monday. Monday curbside trash and recycling customers will now receive pick-up Saturday, Sept. 21. Those with questions about their cart collections should contact GFL Environmental at 910.253.4177.
