PUBLIC NOTICE

Brunswick County is working with community and state partners to assess impacts and respond to community needs following Potential Tropical Cyclone (PTC) #8. The following resources are available for those seeking assistance or wish to provide support for people impacted by the storm.

Requesting Assistance

Participating agencies from the Brunswick County Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD) help provide support and resources to the community following storms and disasters. Residents and visitors who have a need for assistance related to PTC #8 should contact Brunswick County Emergency Management at 910-253-5383 to be added to an assessment list for support. Assistance needs can include needing help with food, clothing, moving furniture, clean up, and more.

Public safety personnel are working to help provide a safe place for those they have assisted through rescue operations or unsafe situations. Residents and visitors who might need a safe place to go can call Emergency Management at 910-253-5383 to discuss their needs. If anyone feels they are in danger, they should call 9-1-1.

The American Red Cross North Carolina Region has opened a shelter due to flooding caused by excessive rainfall from PTC #8. The shelter is available free of charge to individuals and families who need assistance and connect with resources. The shelter is located at the Brunswick Center at Leland (121 Town Hall Drive, Leland, NC 28451).

Brunswick County cannot accept donations, but you are welcome to visit the Brunswick County VOAD webpage to see partner organizations with unmet needs that you might assist or support: brunswickcountync.gov/voad. Those who are interested in volunteering can find volunteer opportunities at brunswickcountync.gov/volunteer. You can also check local municipal websites for additional opportunities at brunswickcountync.gov/municipalities.
