On April 4, 2025, the North Carolina Court of Appeals issued a decision in the election protest brought by state supreme court candidate Jefferson Griffin. The North Carolina State Board of Elections has issued a statement regarding the decision:

What Brunswick County Voters Should Know

There are 1,250 Brunswick County voters involved in the election protest filed by North Carolina Supreme Court candidate Jefferson Griffin, citing concerns about incomplete voter registrations. These records are missing either the voter’s North Carolina driver’s license number or the last four digits of their Social Security number.

The North Carolina State Board of Elections released a spreadsheet in February listing the voters whose records were included in these protests. That file is available here:

Regardless of the outcome of this ongoing legal dispute, any voter who is concerned that their voter registration information is incomplete or outdated should submit an updated voter registration form.

How to Update Your Voter Registration Record

If you have a NC driver’s license:

➡️ Update your registration online at the NC DMV website. There is no fee for voter registration updates.

If you do not have a NC driver’s license:

➡️ Complete a Voter Registration Application (PDF) and return it by:
