[ARCHIVED] Brunswick County Board of Elections Participates in National Voter Registration Day

The Brunswick County Board of Elections will join thousands of partners nationwide in celebrating National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan civic holiday held each September to promote voter registration and awareness. The initiative is supported by the National Association of Secretaries of State, the National Association of State Election Directors, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, and the National Association of Election Officials.

To mark the day, Board of Elections representatives will be available from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at all Brunswick County Library locations:

  • Margaret & James Harper, Jr. Library (Southport Branch), 109 W Moore Street, Southport, NC 28461
  • G.V. Barbee, Sr. Library (Oak Island Branch), 8200 E Oak Island Drive, Oak Island, NC 28465
  • Leland Library, 487 Village Road, Leland, NC 28451
  • Rourk Library (Shallotte Branch), 5068 Main Street, Shallotte, NC 28470
  • Southwest Brunswick Branch Library (Carolina Shores Branch), 9400 Ocean Highway W, Carolina Shores, NC 28467

Residents can take this opportunity to:

  • Update their voter registration information (such as name or address)
  • Learn more about the upcoming municipal elections

“National Voter Registration Day is a great reminder of how important it is to be ready before Election Day,” said Sara LaVere, Director of the Brunswick County Board of Elections. “These events give residents a convenient way to register or update their information while also learning about the elections taking place in their communities this fall.”

Not all registered voters in Brunswick County will be eligible to vote in the 2025 municipal elections, as eligibility depends on residency within municipal boundaries. However, all voters are encouraged to check their voter registration record before every election to confirm they are registered, view a sample ballot, and find their Election Day polling place. Voters can look up their registration online at vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup.
