Brunswick County Chairman Mike Forte has provided the following statement on behalf of the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners:
“My fellow Brunswick County Commissioners and I want to express our heartfelt grief and sorrow on the shooting in Southport last night resulting in the death of three individuals and the injury of several others. Please keep those recovering and the loved ones of those lost in your hearts and prayers. We are also grateful for the quick and dedicated response of our local law enforcement and emergency medical personnel.
“There is a lot we still don’t know about this incident and a lot we may never understand. I pray for healing and comfort to those who are feeling lost or fearful at this time, and for peace to the entire Southport community.
“The Board of Commissioners will support Southport’s leadership and residents in any way we can as we navigate this difficult time together.”
