PUBLIC NOTICE

BOLIVIA, N.C. – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated its Adult and Child Immunization Schedules to apply individual-based decision-making to COVID-19 vaccination.

The immunization schedules adopted recent recommendations by the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) which were approved by Acting Director of the CDC and Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services Jim O’Neill.

With the final approval, the new 2025-2026 COVID-19 vaccine is now available at Brunswick County Health Services (BCHS) in Bolivia. 

A walk-in vaccine clinic is now available for eligible patients aged 19 and older through Friday, Oct. 31. No appointment is necessary for the walk-in clinic. Clinic staff can accommodate requests to vaccinate individuals from their vehicles for anyone who may have mobility issues.

The COVID-19 vaccine is available by appointment only for children aged 6 months through 18 years with at least one underlying health condition and a prescription/doctor’s order with a qualifying diagnosis.

Every Monday through Friday until October 31, 2025, from 9 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Who is eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine at the BCHS walk-in clinic?

  • Adults ages 65 years and older
  • Adults 19 to 64 years old with at least one underlying health condition, such as: asthma, chronic heart or lung, chronic liver or kidney disease, cancer, diabetes, smoking (current or former), pregnancy, depression, physical inactivity, and more.   • Comirnaty (Pfizer) for 19 years and older

What do I need to bring with me?

Bring your photo ID and your insurance cards (if applicable). There is typically no out-of-pocket cost with Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance. Accepted payment methods include Medicare, Medicaid, insurance, cash, and check. 

Can I get the flu and COVID-19 vaccines at the same time?

Yes, eligible patients can receive both vaccines at the BCHS clinic during their visit.

Will the COVID-19 vaccine be available after Oct. 31?

Yes, the COVID-19 vaccine will be available by appointment (910.253.2276) starting on Nov. 3, 2025.

Is the COVID-19 vaccine available for children at BCHS?

Yes, the COVID-19 vaccine is available by appointment only for children aged 6 months through 18 years with at least one underlying health condition and a prescription/doctor’s order with a qualifying diagnosis.

  • Spikevax (Moderna) for 6 months through 11 years
