[ARCHIVED] Brunswick County invites community to participate in 2025 Angel Tree Initiative

PUBLIC NOTICE

BOLIVIA, N.C. – For many community members, the holiday season is a time for gathering and celebration. It is also an opportunity to provide relief from the pressures of the holiday season for those in need in our community. This December, Brunswick County Social Services invites you to participate in the 2025 Angel Tree initiative.

During the holiday season each year, Social Services works with community members and organizations to support children, youth, and adults involved with the child welfare system in Brunswick County. These individuals are automatically added to the list of participants for the Angel Tree initiative.

Social Services team members work to collect wish lists for each Angel Tree participant, which are then created into tags and placed on Angel Trees in three locations across Brunswick County. Once the tags have been placed, community members are invited to visit one of the following locations to select a wish list, which they must fulfill by a certain date each December.

Donations

Those who wish to donate can pick up one or multiple Angel Tree tags from the Walmart Supercenter locations in Shallotte, Southport, and Leland. All donated gifts must be new and unwrapped. To identify which wishes have been fulfilled, each gift must be tagged with the corresponding Angel Tree tag.

Tagged donations can be dropped off during regular business hours inside any of the following locations:

An Amazon wish list has been created for those who prefer to shop online or are unable to pick up an Angel Tree tag from one of the four physical locations. If you choose to purchase an item from the Amazon wish list, please select Brunswick County DSS as your delivery address at checkout. Amazon gifts accidentally sent to your home address can be dropped off during regular business hours inside Brunswick County Social Services (Building B) in Bolivia.

Social Services will not request donations be delivered or dropped off to any additional locations. If someone claims the donation locations have changed, please contact Social Work Supervisor Brandi Rosenberg via email or call 910.253.2384.

Social Services team members deliver donated gifts to the children’s families or adult recipients during regularly scheduled rounds. The final date to drop off any 2025 Angel Tree donations is Friday, Dec. 12, 2025.

There are currently 313 children and 84 adults participating in the 2025 Angel Tree initiative; however, we expect the number of participants will increase. Last year, Social Services was able to serve 419 children and 75 adults thanks to the community’s generosity.

Individuals with questions about the Angel Tree initiative or other ways to support Brunswick County Social Services are encouraged to email Brandi Rosenberg or call 910.253.2384.
