[ARCHIVED] Brunswick County closed Monday, Feb. 2, Board of Commissioners meeting canceled

PUBLIC NOTICE

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Brunswick County Government offices, libraries, parks, health clinic, social services, and other facilities will be closed Monday, Feb. 2 due to Winter Storm Gianna.

The Board of Commissioners meeting scheduled for Monday, Feb. 2 at 3 p.m. is also canceled. Items planned for this meeting’s agenda will be moved to a future meeting date.

Brunswick County leadership and emergency management staff are monitoring conditions. A decision will be made on the County’s operations for Tuesday, Feb. 3 on Monday (tomorrow).  

Monday, Feb. 2, 2026

  • County Offices & Facilities (includes Licenses Plate Agency): Closed
  • Board of Commissioners Meeting (3 p.m.): Canceled
  • Library Branches: Closed
  • County Parks: Closed. All county programs, rentals, and leagues are canceled until further notice.
  • Landfill & Convenience Centers: Closed
  • GFL Curbside Cart Collection: No cart collection. Monday customers will receive a make-up collection on Saturday, Feb. 7 (subject to change based on conditions).

Essential public safety and response staff continue to respond to the event and address community needs while county offices are closed to the public. The Brunswick County Emergency Operations Center is currently at Level 2 – Partial Activation. The state of emergency remains in effect.

Additional Information

  • The Brunswick County Courthouse has already announced that both Superior and District courts are canceled on Monday, Feb. 2. The Judge Ola M. Lewis Brunswick County Courthouse location will also be closed on Monday. All questions concerning court dates must be directed to the Courthouse. Click here to visit their website.

  • The Brunswick County Library will not charge any overdue fines when the Library is closed for weather events. Please keep your library materials safe at home until the library branches have reopened.

  • GFL Environmental will assess road conditions and other factors this week to determine whether their crews can safely collect curbside trash and recycling carts as normally scheduled.
