[ARCHIVED] Brunswick County Government reopens on delayed schedules Tuesday, Feb. 3, parks remain closed

PUBLIC NOTICE

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Brunswick County Government will reopen on delayed schedules Tuesday, Feb. 3 following closures related to impacts from Winter Storm Gianna. County parks will remain closed until further notice.

Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026

  • County Offices & Facilities (includes Licenses Plate Agency): Reopen at 10 a.m.

  • Library Branches: Reopen at 10:30 a.m.

  • County Parks: Closed. Staff will evaluate park conditions to determine when they can reopen to the public. All county programs, rentals, and leagues are canceled until further notice.

  • Landfill: Reopens at 10 a.m.

  • Convenience Centers: Normally closed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Centers will reopen on their regular schedules Wednesday, Feb. 4.

  • GFL Curbside Cart Collection: At this time, GFL Environmental is still assessing road conditions and other factors to determine if they can conduct collections on Tuesday. If you have questions about your curbside trash and recycling cart collections, contact GFL Environmental at 910.253.4177 or check their website for updates: gflenv.com/brunswick.
    • GFL will be monitoring day to day throughout the week to determine whether their crews can safely collect curbside trash and recycling carts as normally scheduled. Please be patient. If crews can conduct pickups, they will likely need more time to collect carts safely due to road conditions and frigid temperatures.

Essential public safety and response staff continue to respond to the event and address community needs while county offices are closed to the public. The Brunswick County Emergency Operations Center is currently at Level 3 – Enhanced Monitoring. The state of emergency remains in effect.
