VIII. Administrative Report
- Administration - Morgue Status: The Board received information on the county’s morgue status from Deputy County Manager David Stanely and partners from Brunswick County EMS and Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center. Brunswick County does not have a standalone county morgue and instead partners with local hospitals including Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center to provide morgue capacity for the community. Following conversations among the partners, no issues with capacity were identified at this time, but they will monitor the impacts of population growth and other factors on the need for morgue services. Novant Health is considering morgue capacity and community growth through its strategic planning process, but there is no planned expansion for the morgue at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center this time.
The Board took no action on this item. The County and Novant Health will update the Board if any additional changes or new information becomes available in the future.
- Clerk to the Board - Resolution Establishing FY24-25 Board of Commissioners Meeting Schedule: The Board unanimously approved (4-0) the resolution adopting the Board of Commissioners' annual meeting schedule for FY24-25.
IX. Other Business / Informal Discussion
- Commissioner Frank Williams inquired about or requested the following:
- Requested an update on when the Board may hear from staff on proposed updates to the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) at a future board meeting.
