MEDIA RELEASE

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Curious to know what direction Brunswick County’s future is headed in? Stop by the upcoming Blueprint Brunswick 2040 Community Open House Thursday, Nov. 18 to find out.

Residents are invited to come to the Cooperative Extension Training Center (Building N) in Bolivia (25 Referendum Drive NE) anytime between 4 to 7 p.m. to see the latest progress and provide input on Brunswick County’s draft Comprehensive Land Use Plan and the Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

Draft maps are available for review and comment including the Vision Plan (the future land use maps/conservation maps) and the future Parks and Recreation map. The maps represent draft policy ideas that will ultimately guide future growth, decisions, and investments in infrastructure and services in the county through 2040.

As these important plans take shape, your feedback on the draft maps, goals, and policies is vital. Consultants and staff will incorporate additional input collected during the open house into the final draft of the plans.

Initial collection of public feedback on the plans began in October 2020 through February 2021. Nearly 6,500 surveys with residents’ input on land use and parks and recreation topics were received along with several community input meetings hosted across the county.

Information gathered through these initiatives helped provide initial direction for the first drafts of the plans, which are available for review at the open house on Nov. 18.

Not able to attend in person? View the resources and draft maps and plans on the Blueprint Brunswick 2040 main website and submit your input at BlueprintBrunswick2040.com.

Individuals are also encouraged to reach out to Brunswick County staff with any questions they have about the plans or submitting input.
