About the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee
Mission
To monitor the Patient’s Bill of Rights for residents in nursing homes in Brunswick County; to provide increased social interaction and opportunities for enrichment for these adults; to assist in preventing physical and psychological deterioration of these older adults by promoting independence; to evaluate the activities of the nursing homes so that they meet the needs of the older adults in Brunswick County; to promote community understanding of the aging process and of the needs, problems, strengths and resources of older persons; to report to the Brunswick Commissioners the status of the Committee.

Meets at 10:00 a.m. in the Second Floor Training Room of the David R. Sandifer Administration Building.

Membership
All members serve 3-year terms.
- At least 7 members, appointed by the Board of Commissioners
- 1 member appointed to serve each district; additional at-large members
- Each member must be a resident of the county which the committee serves.
- No person or immediate family member of a person with a financial interest in a home served by a committee, or employee or governing board member or immediate family member of an employee or governing board member of a home served by a committee, or immediate family member of a patient in a home served by a committee may be a member of a committee.
- Prospective members must have 15 hours of training, and members must attend four quarterly business meetings and visit nine nursing homes & adult care facilities in the county on three randomly scheduled days each quarter of the year.
