BOLIVIA, N.C. – The Brunswick County Board of Commissioners met for its regular meeting this Monday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m.

Below is a quick recap of the actions taken on selected agenda items during the regular meeting. Residents can view an online and PDF version of the full agenda and accompanying reports at brunswickcountync.gov/agendas.

V. Approval of Consent Agenda (select items)

The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the consent agenda as presented.

  • Engineering – Ash Waccamaw Multiuse Building Construction: The Board of Commissioners approved moving forward with the process of bidding, awarding, and construction of the Ash Waccamaw Mulituse Building in FY23.
  • Sheriff’s Office – Motorola Solutions Agreement – GHSP Grant Equipment: The Board of Commissioners approved an agreement with Motorola Solutions for the purchase of the radios and in-car systems that are part of the approved North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program (GHSP) grant.
VIII. Administrative Report
  1. Administration – Inclement Weather Pay Policy Revisions: The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a revision to the Inclement Weather Policy that combines the County’s current Inclement Weather and State of Emergency pay policies into a simplified and equitable single policy.
  2. Communications – FY24 Commissioners’ Strategic Planning and Goal Setting Workshop: The Board of Commissioners held a workshop to discuss the Fiscal Year 2024 strategic planning and goal setting process and unanimously approved an amendment to the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan to add the following objective:
    1. Excellent Government Objective No. 4: Implement innovative technologies and strategies that support staff’s efforts to deliver high-quality, effective services to residents, customers, and stakeholders.

BOLIVIA, N.C. – The Brunswick County Board of Commissioners will meet for its regular meeting this Monday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m.

The commissioners’ chambers are on the first floor of the David R. Sandifer Administration Building at 30 Government Center Drive in Bolivia (28422).

Brunswick County has recently implemented a new agenda management platform for its Board of Commissioners meetings at brunswickcountync.gov/agendas.

The new portal includes a calendar and a scrolling list of meeting dates where users can download available agendas and minutes. Users can also click on a meeting date to open a new tab to the portal to view meting files and subscribe for email updates when meeting agendas are posted.

Additionally, some meetings have public hearings for specific issues. The public hearings are similar to a public comment period but pertain to one topic. Individuals wishing to speak during a public hearing should sign up before the meeting starts on the form at the door dedicated to public hearings. This form is separate from the form used to sign up for public comments at the beginning of the meeting.

Speakers wishing to distribute any related documents, printed comments or materials to the commissioners should deliver at least eight copies to the county clerk at least fifteen minutes before the meeting starts.
