BOLIVIA, N.C. – The Brunswick County Board of Commissioners met for a regular meeting this Monday, Aug. 7 at 3 p.m.

VI. Public Hearings
- County Attorney – Public Hearing on Proposed Economic Development Incentives for Industrial Reliability and Repair, LLC: The Board of Commissioners conducted a public hearing to receive comments on proposed economic development incentives for Industrial Reliability and Repair, LLC. There were no requests to speak. The public hearing was closed.
- County Attorney – Approval of Economic Development Incentives Following Close of Public Hearing: Following conclusion of the public hearing, the Board of Commissioners unanimously approved (4-0) the economic development incentives related to Industrial Reliability and Repair, LLC (the “Company”) for the establishment of a manufacturing facility located at 2307 Mercantile Drive, NE, Leland, NC 28451, a building owned by TK KIDS 1, LLC (the “Building Owner”).
VII. Administrative Report
- Administration – Bond Order for 2023 Enterprise System Revenue Bonds: The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved (4-0) the bond order authorizing the issuance, directing the application to the local government commission, and requesting Local Government Commission approval of enterprise systems revenue bonds of the County Of Brunswick, North Carolina, series 2023. The Board previously adopted an initial resolution at a meeting held on June 5, 2023 requesting the Local Government Commission’s approval of the County’s Enterprise Systems Revenue bonds, series 2023 to finance (not to exceed) $45 million for the costs associated with improvements to the wastewater system, specifically for the Mulberry Branch Water Reclamation Facility’s 0.75 million gallons per day (MGD) expansion project and a biosolids processing facility in the West Brunswick Regional Wastewater System.
- Utilities – Additional Staff, Materials, and Equipment to Facilitate the Installation of Taps and Leak Repair: The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved (4-0) additional staff, materials, and equipment to facilitate the installation of taps and leak repair. The additional construction crew (one crew supervisor and three utility mechanics), equipment, and tools were requested due to the growing number of water and sewer service installations (meter installations, grinder pump installations, taps, and irrigation taps/meters) and unplanned maintenance and repair activities the department is experiencing.
VIII. Board Appointments
- Clerk to the Board – 2023 Board Appointments: The Board of Commissioners reviewed and unanimously appointed (4-0) Hayley Burges to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (District 1 representative) and Steve Yahusz to the Zoning Board of Adjustment (alternate).

Public Comment and Hearings
Most regular meetings include a time for public comment before the commissioners at the beginning of the meeting. Some meetings also have public hearings for specific issues. The public hearings are similar to a public comment period but pertain to one topic.
Individuals wishing to speak during a public hearing should sign up before the meeting starts on the form at the door dedicated to public hearings. This form is separate from the form used to sign up for public comments at the beginning of the meeting.
Speakers wishing to distribute any related documents, printed comments or materials to the commissioners should deliver at least eight copies to the county clerk at least fifteen minutes before the meeting starts.
