MEDIA RELEASE

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Brunswick County Health Services in partnership with Dosher Memorial Hospital and Novant Health has launched the 2022 Community Health Assessment (CHA) for Brunswick County. The assessment is one of many important steps in addressing the health needs and concerns of residents across the county.

“We look forward to working with Novant Health and Dosher Memorial Hospital to conduct this year’s Community Health Assessment,” Brunswick County Health Services Director Cris Harrelson said. “The assessment will help us all pursue our common mission of promoting access to affordable care, treatment, and community resources to improve the well-being of all residents.”

Every three years, health information is collected from Brunswick County residents through a Community Health Assessment. The results are then used to create a community health improvement plan to effect measurable change over the next three years.

On May 26, more than 30 stakeholders from Brunswick County participated in the kickoff meeting held at the Brunswick County Cooperative Extension building in Bolivia. The goal of the meeting was to formally establish the CHA Steering Committee and to discuss strategies for community engagement, outreach, and data collection for the Community Health Opinion Survey that will be administered this summer.

“Being a part of this committee is a great opportunity to help improve the health outcomes for the residents in our county,” Dosher Memorial Hospital President and CEO Lynda Stanley said. “I feel that I am doing my part to make a positive difference in the lives of my family, friends, and neighbors by being involved in these meetings. I encourage anyone who is passionate about the health of our community members to participate in this assessment and to be a part of our planning process.”

If you are interested in participating on the CHA Steering Committee, you are welcome to attend the next meeting on June 23, 2022 from 1 to 3 p.m. (location to be determined).
