Cris Harrelson has been selected as Brunswick County Health Director by Brunswick County Health and Human Services.
Harrelson currently serves as the Health and Human Services Director and full-time Health Director for Bladen County. He replaces Fred Michael, former Deputy Director, who retired in June after 17 years of service to Brunswick County.
Harrelson is originally from Bladen County and has over 21 years of local and state Public Health experience. He holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences from North Carolina State University and received a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2005.
“Cris will be a tremendous addition to our team,” said David Stanley, Brunswick County Health and Human Services Executive Director. “He has a strong public health background working for both local and state government and has a track record of being an innovator and collaborative decision maker. Cris has pledged to safeguard the public health through visionary leadership, risk assessment, preventative programs, and effective education.”
“I am honored to have been chosen and I am looking forward to joining the Brunswick County team,” Harrelson said.
Harrelson will assume Health Director duties in Brunswick County on Oct. 12, 2015.
