Brunswick County Shelter Closing, Voluntary Evacuation Lifted Thursday Evening

The Brunswick County shelter established at West Brunswick High School will close, and the voluntary evacuation for residents in unincorporated areas who live in low-lying or flood-prone areas or storm-damaged homes will be lifted, effective at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11.

Brunswick County’s State of Emergency and burn ban will also be lifted at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Citizens who need assistance can still call the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at 910-253-5383.

Brunswick County government offices will be open on a regular schedule Friday, Oct. 12.

Drivers should remember that the ground in many areas was already saturated prior to the arrival of Hurricane Michael, should stay alert and exercise caution when driving, and should remember not to drive through standing water but to turn around and find an alternative route.
