Community Rating System
Brunswick County has been accepted into the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Community Rating System (CRS) program. The program is available to communities who have been found to effectively administer a locally adopted Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance and provide exceptional educational resources to the community. Brunswick County completed a FEMA Community Assistance Visit, which is a CRS requirement, and demonstrated the County is effectively administering their Floodplain Management Program to a higher standard. The County has been given a CRS classification rating of 8, which determines the percentage discount property owners will realize for flood insurance premiums with the National Flood Insurance Program policies. With a CRS Classification Rating of 8, property owners may realize up to a 10% discount on their flood insurance premiums.
