Most maps and plats must be presented to and certified by a Review Officer before the Register of Deeds is allowed to record them. The Board of Commissioners of each county is responsible for designating, by resolution, one or more Review Officers in the county. You will find the applicable statutes for Review Officers referenced in G.S. 47-30.2.
