2023 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award Nominations now being accepted
MEDIA RELEASE
BOLIVIA, N.C. – Brunswick County is exceptional for many reasons, one being that it is a community full of great residents who seek avenues to assist others. Now is your opportunity to nominate these exceptional volunteers for the 2023 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award! If you know an outstanding volunteer in our community, nominating them is a great way to let them know how much their work is appreciated.
The County may select up to 10 recipients (individuals, businesses, groups/teams, and one paid director of volunteers) to be recognized for their outstanding contributions to their communities. One of the nominees will be nominated for the Governor’s Medallion Award for Volunteer Service, which is awarded to the top 20-25 volunteers in the state. A local committee will evaluate the nominations and then submit Brunswick County’s final nominations to the Governor’s Office.
Nomination forms are available in Brunswick County at the following location(s):
- Brunswick County Emergency Services: 3325 Old Ocean Highway, Bolivia, NC 28422
- Online: brunswickcountync.gov/gvsa
Completed forms must be submitted by Jan. 31, 2023 (late submissions will not be eligible for review).

The awards program, created by the Office of the Governor in 1979, recognizes North Carolina’s most dedicated volunteers. Through the years, the award has been bestowed on thousands of North Carolinians who have shown concern and compassion for their neighbors by volunteering in their local community.
