Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program
The North Carolina Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (NC BCCCP) provides free or low-cost mammograms and cervical cancer screenings (Pap test) and follow-up to eligible women in North Carolina.

Exams and Mammogram Appointments
During a screening exam, a nurse:
- Performs a clinic breast exam
- Offers a mammogram appointment
- Performs a pap test
- Performs some limited diagnostic tests for follow-up of abnormal results
- Teaches the patient how to do a breast self-exam
- Offers smoking cessation
Mammogram appointments can be made at the following locations:
- Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center in Bolivia
- The Medical Mall at New Hanover Medical Center in Wilmington, or the satellite office in Leland
- Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport
Any abnormal findings are referred to a doctor.
