Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program

The North Carolina Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (NC BCCCP) provides free or low-cost mammograms and cervical cancer screenings (Pap test) and follow-up to eligible women in North Carolina.

Exams and Mammogram Appointments
During a screening exam, a nurse:
  • Performs a clinic breast exam
  • Offers a mammogram appointment
  • Performs a pap test
  • Performs some limited diagnostic tests for follow-up of abnormal results
  • Teaches the patient how to do a breast self-exam
  • Offers smoking cessation

Mammogram appointments can be made at the following locations:

  • Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center in Bolivia
  • The Medical Mall at New Hanover Medical Center in Wilmington, or the satellite office in Leland
  • Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport

Any abnormal findings are referred to a doctor.
