Health Coverage Assistance
Many programs are available through Brunswick County Health and Human Services that provide affordable health insurance or health coverage for those who cannot afford health insurance. In addition to the programs listed below, the Health Clinic at Health Services offers many screenings, exams and other services on a sliding scale, dependent on income.
- Health Choice for Children: North Carolina Health Choice offers health coverage for children whose families make too much money to qualify for Medicaid, but do not make enough money to afford private or employer-sponsored health insurance. Find more information about the program, or apply through the North Carolina Health and Human Services’ online program.
- Medicaid: Medicaid is a health insurance program for low-income individuals and families who cannot afford health care costs. There are many different Medicaid programs, and the eligibility requirements vary slightly between programs. Find more information about Medicaid, learn about the requirements for different programs, or apply through the North Carolina Health and Human Services’ online program.
- Care Coordination for Children: Care Coordination for Children (CC4C) assists children who have been in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and their parents after discharge from the NICU. The program seeks to lower the number of visits to the hospital or the emergency department for these children, and to help provide resources and information to the parents of these children.
