Tropical Storm Idalia Situation Overview (NWS-Wilmington)
Brunswick County is currently under a Tropical Storm Warning and a Flood Watch countywide. A Coastal Flood Warning is also in effect. The risk for flash flooding caused by heavy rains later today through Thursday are particularly high for our area. Possible impacts include:
- Heavy rainfall and dangerous flash flooding
- A few tornadoes and waterspouts
- Some storm surge/coastal flooding
- Gusty winds exceeding 40 mph (tropical storm force)
- Strong rip currents and very rough surf
- Hazardous maritime conditions

Thursday Curbside Trash & Recycling Collection Rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 2 due to Idalia
Due to expected inclement weather from Idalia, all Thursday curbside GFL Environmental trash and recycling collection routes are rescheduled for pick up on Saturday, Sept. 2. There are currently no planned changes to Wednesday and Friday collection routes.
All customers are encouraged to secure their trash and recycling carts to prevent potential cart loss or litter during and after the storm.
