Oceans of Possibilities at Brunswick County Library
Dive into a whole sea-son of reading and fun with the Brunswick County Library Summer Reading Program! In addition to our reading incentive program for youth (infants-teens), we will be offering in-person events at all five of our branches. Summer Reading kicks off June 1 and goes through the end of July. Click the tabs below for each library branch events as well as clicking on the events calendar for all Library programs & events.

SUMMER READING 2022 AT LELAND LIBRARY
Online registration begins June 1st. Once you have registered, come pick up your summer reading packet, which includes your reading record.
Turn in your Leland reading record by July 20th to get a free book courtesy of the Friends of the Leland Library! Books will be ready for pickup after July 27th.
Wednesday, June 15th @ 10:30am – Music Bird Studios (located in Founders Park, next to the library)
An interactive music program for kids with a summertime beach theme!
Thursday, July 7th @ 3:00pm – FunNFoam Farm Party! (located in the library’s back yard!)
Come celebrate with a foam party behind the Leland Library. It’s like a pool party without the water! Your clothes may get wet — so you may want to come in swim-appropriate clothing and bring a towel.

Learn about sea creatures and environmental advocacy while enjoying live music, singing, and a gang of puppet pals.
June 20 Mark Daniel – “FoamNFun Foam Party”
It’s like a pool party without the water! Bring a towel & goggles if you would like!
June 27 NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher – “If I Could Be a Sea Creature”
Explore the ocean of possibilities that await just below the waves and get up close and personal with a surprise Ambassador Animal!
July 4 No Summer Reading Program!
July 11 Bright Star Theatre – “Pirate of Bully Bay”
A dramatic adventure that teaches young buccaneers how to navigate the choppy waters of friendship!
July 18 Fish the Magish – “Magical Fish Tales”
This comedy magic presentation includes a refreshing mix of storytelling, lively audience participation, and underwater surprises!
July 25 PARTY!! PARTY!! PARTY!!
You must turn in your Reading Log by 6 p.m. on Monday July 18th or have minutes logged on our Reader Zone App to receive a ticket to our End of Summer Reading Party!

June 14 Mr. Scooter – “Mr. Scooter’s Story Jam!”
Don’t miss this storytelling and hip-hop show for families featuring songs and stories about robots, penguins, aliens, pirates, and more! Mr. Scooter’s unique, high-octane musical storytelling style will have kids on their feet dancing and singing along the entire show!
June 21 Mr. Mark – “Musical High Seas Adventures!”
Mark Dannon Herbert, aka “Mr. Mark,” offers a fun educational and interactive program with live music, sing-alongs, and his gang of puppet pals! Come along for high seas adventure to learn about the world’s ocean creatures! Don’t miss the fun!
June 28 Sharon Clarke – “Tales and Tunes”
Join popular musician and storyteller Sharon Clarke as she takes you on an interactive musical journey featuring easy-to-play instruments and exciting tales!
July 5 No Summer Reading Program
July 12 N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher– “If I Could Be a Sea Creature”
Aquarium outreach educators will share their new book “If I Could Be a Sea Creature.” They will be joined by a surprise ocean “Ambassador Animal” you will be able to view “up close and personal.” Bring your imagination and curiosity and be prepared to be amazed!
July 19 Sea Biscuit Wildlife Shelter – “A Visit from Tim the Pelican”
Come meet Tim the Oak Island Pelican and learn about all the other shorebirds that call Oak Island home! Sea Biscuit Wildlife Shelter Director Mary Ellen Rogers will tell the stories of her and Tim’s adventures with shorebird rescue!
Participants must turn in their reading logs or log their minutes on the Reader Zone app
before 6:00 p.m. July 19th to receive a ticket for our celebration party on July 26th.

Come to the library to receive you Summer Reading supplies. Visit our storywalk outside and take a photo of yourself to receive a prize!

Meet a live ocean animal from Fort Fisher Aquarium!

Join the library for a pirate-themed scavenger hunt and learn about local NC pirates!

Join the library for Fort-Fisher Fantastic Fish Program and meet a live ocean animal!
July 18th-July 22nd: Mystery Prize Week
Return your Reading Log and receive your mystery prize. Your reading log will be entered into a Grand Prize Raffle. Our raffle winner will receive a gift card for four tickets to Fort Fisher Aquarium.
