MEDIA RELEASE

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Brunswick County Manager Steve Stone announced today that Catherine Lytch will serve as the County’s new Health and Human Services Executive Director effective immediately.

Lytch has 30 years of experience in human service delivery and management across North Carolina. She has served as director of Brunswick County’s Social Services and Public Housing departments since 2013.

“Cathy has been an integral part of our county’s leadership over the years, and we are pleased to have her take on this expanded role,” Stone said. “Her dedication and knowledge of our county’s unique needs, challenges, and opportunities will be tremendous assets as she works with our staff and community to further advance some of our most important services.”

Stone announced the news following consultation with the Board of Commissioners in closed session during the regular meeting on Monday, March 4. As Executive Director, Lytch will oversee the County’s Health Services, Public Housing, Social Services, and Emergency Medical Services departments. She will also serve as a staff liaison on the Health and Human Services Advisory Board.

“It is a tremendous honor to work for Brunswick County, and I am humbled and excited to take on this new role of service for my community,” Lytch said. “I am grateful to county leadership and the Commissioners for their support and trust in me as we embark on this next step for our organization and county together.”

The Executive Director position was previously held by David Stanley until his promotion to Deputy County Manager in February 2021. The position was re-established through a recent reorganization process approved by the Board of Commissioners on Nov. 6, 2023, and falls under Stanley’s supervision.

“I am proud of Cathy as she takes on this new opportunity and for how she has grown as a leader during her time with the County,” Stanley said. “The Executive Director plays an important role in supporting unified, cohesive leadership for our departments and partners as they work together on shared initiatives and projects. I have every confidence she will do a fantastic job and will continue to be a wonderful representative for our organization and county.”

Lytch will continue to supervise operations for the Social Services and Public Housing departments until new departmental leadership is selected.
