Volunteer resources and contacts to help post-Hurricane Dorian

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Brunswick County Emergency Services coordinates offers for donations and volunteer assistance with the Brunswick County Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD).

Questions about who to contact for help, how to volunteer or how to donate items? Contact Emergency Services Volunteer and Nonprofit Coordinator Leslie Stanley for direction to the appropriate VOAD agency or county department based on your needs.

A list of VOAD partner organizations that may be able to assist residents with unmet and construction needs post-Hurricane Dorian is available at https://www.brunswickcountync.gov/voad/

Based on the level of impact to Brunswick County, VOAD anticipates that its available resources are enough to serve the areas affected by Hurricane Dorian. VOAD is thankful to everyone who has reached out to offer help.

NOTICE OF UPSET BID PERIOD

On May 6, 2019, the Brunswick County Commissioners accepted an offer of $2,500.00 for Parcel 217LB065, 645 Pelican Cir, SE, and being described on a deed recorded in Book 04169, Page 1246 of the Brunswick County Register of Deeds.

This notice, published on June 6, 2019 will announce a 10-day upset bid period to allow any other bids to be submitted for consideration by Brunswick County.  Any bids submitted must exceed the current bid by 10% of the first thousand, and 5% of the remainder.  The minimum qualifying bid for this parcel is $2,675.00.  Bid deposits may be made with a cashier’s check or money order made payable to Brunswick County.  Any bid not accepted will be returned.

Persons wishing to upset an offer that has been received shall submit a sealed bid, to include their written offer and a bid deposit amount equal to 5% of their offer.  Each bid shall be submitted in a separate sealed envelope marked as “SEALED BID PARCEL 217LB065”, and submitted to the office of the Clerk to the Board Commissioners, Room 301, David R. Sandifer County Administration Building, 30 Government Center Drive, NE, Bolivia, N.C. 28422, or by mail to PO Box 249, Bolivia, NC 28422, by 5:00 p.m., June 17, 2019 (mailed bids must be received by the deadline).  At that time the Clerk to the Board shall open the bids, if any, and the highest qualifying bid will become the new offer.  If there is more than one bid in the highest amount, the first such bid received will become the new offer.  A new bid period will then be initiated and a notice like this one will be published soliciting new offers.  The County reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
