ASH, N.C. – Brunswick County in cooperation with the North Carolina National Guard successfully vaccinated 321 residents for COVID-19 this Thursday at a clinic organized outside Jessie Mae Monroe Elementary School in Ash.

This one-day vaccination clinic was organized to support the County’s and State’s joint efforts to expand access to vaccines to eligible members from historically marginalized communities.

Health Services worked with its partners at the Brunswick County NAACP and local churches in the Ash area to identify eligible individuals who qualified under either Groups 1 and 2 for appointments at the clinic.

The doses available to support this clinic were connected to an additional allocation Brunswick County Health Services received from the NCDHHS this week (Feb. 8-12) to support a vaccination event that helps underserved community members.

“We are thankful for our partners at the NAACP and in the Ash community who helped us connect with eligible individuals within their communities Thursday,” Health and Human Services Director David Stanley said. “Additionally, this event provided our team and our National Guard partners with a great opportunity to practice how to set up smaller clinics in new locations, which will be beneficial when planning future outreach clinics.”

More information about COVID-19, testing, and vaccines is on the Health Services COVID-19 webpage.
